“Welcome return of the Oystercatchers”


Oystercatcher at Glengoulandie Holiday Lodges near Aberfeldy and Pitlochry

Spring is on the horizon with the return of the first Oystercatcher to the Lochan for 2023.


Wading birds, normally found on freshwater and seawater locations and on drier ground inland, including pastures, riverside fields and similar areas around flooded gravel workings. They have striking black and white plumage, red/orange eyes and a stunning orange beak. Oystercatchers are regular annual visitors to our Lochan here at Glengoulandie for their breeding season.
